    During a panel at GDC 2015, Bungie explained why they felt they had to do away with Destiny's infamous loot cave. Though Bungie originally stated that removing the loot cave was a simple design system to balance the gameplay, it turns out the decision was based on a body of data collected by the team in the days following the cave's popularization.

    It turns out, Bungie assumed some players would be exploiting the spawn and drop rate of week enemies. The reason they removed the cave, however, had to do with the fact that the drops weren't good enough for the amount of time that players were sinking in to the monotonous activity.
