You might have noticed that Destiny 2 Beta countdowns on the home page. We've had countdowns before, but the required modification to the underlying script (and Wikia approval) for every change. Thankfully this is no longer the case!
This means that countdowns for Destiny related events can be made with a lot less effort, and that they can be used in the forums. (And user pages, etc.)
Example
Destiny 2 Console Launch: 6 September, 12AM UTC 0
Destiny 2 PC Launch: 24 October, 12AM UTC 0
Accurate to day of release only
Underneath, the countdown code is:
<span class="countdown" data-countdown-time="1504656000" data-countdown-endmsg="Launched">6 September, 12AM UTC 0</span>
data-countdown-time is a unix epoch time value. This ensures that the countdown is correctly handled in every time zone.
data-countdown-endmsg is a message that will be shown once the countdown reaches zero.
Just in case the script doesn't kick in, you should put the time within the span tags (preferably in UTC, which is unaffected by time zones meaning converting to local time is easier).
