  • Hi Destiny Wikians!

As many of you may have noticed the wiki was significantly updated today with a new theme. As part of a celebration of this year's Bungie day and the release of The Taken King in 65 days we have updated the theme as the first stage of a series of changes to the wiki.

Some of the introductions we've included in the theme change are live updated modules on the main page. Here event and activity information such as bounties, daily missions, crucible playlists and Xur's inventory will be automatically updated using information from Destiny's servers.

If you have any feedback for the theme or future ideas please feel free to place them here.

    Regards, The Admin Team

    • I've spotted a flaw with the Xur stock tracker. It can't link to the correct article for gear that can have the same name between classes. In this case, it was the Crest of Alpha Lupi that did it. Worth noting that I did however choose the right icon.
I've corrected it for now at Template:Portal/Vendors/Xur.

Another thing that I noticed while editing this comment was incorrect themes in the comment previewer. (See link for what I mean).

    • Oh, and the previous inventory link should be to the Xur Visit History page, not the Xur page.

Apart from those few small things, I'm liking the changes.

    • I've gone through and updated the modal (pop up) theme design. For some reason that didn't update with the rest of the sight. I'm not sure where it's pulling the design from, so I just overrode it with CSS.

Xur's previous history has been correctly linked. This will may be updated in future to a Xur portal page.

And finally, if Xur is selling armor/weapons with ambiguous pages it won't be able to link to the correct page. Instead it will just link to the name of the armour and it will have to go to the disambiguation page. I'll see if there's a work around for this by using the class type.

    • I'm sure my eyes will adjust to the theme eventually, but the Destiny Wiki icon/header (that thing at the top, next to the toolbar) has been made worse. I suppose the old one's colour scheme fits less with the current Theme scheme.

    • I agree with Vessel. And maybe the background should be changed to this.

    • Finally, it's now something different from that other Destinypedia.

    • The background can always be changed. The logo however was designed to be unique and make us stand out. Is there something particular about the logo that people dislike? We can always adapt it to popular opinion.

    • It's the shininess and silver colour, really, as well as the shading change.

I can always draft up a couple of more designs and put them up to community vote.

    • Just letting you know that I've found another link issue, this time with Template:Portal/Missions/Story. It was the Engram link (previously called Cryptarch Engram). Might be worth creating a redirect for it, since I assume a bot is responsible for keeping those portal templates up-to-date.

Vektor0 has gone ahead and created a redirect. I'll update the bot so it corrects that.

    • There is a problem associated with linking screenshots - adding newly uploaded images to a page seems to incorrectly display the copyright information instead of the image itself.  You can see an example of this for "Watchers' Robe" (or "Robe of the Exile" the page should be named), which I have updated with gear information...

Any images added before the site redesign seems unaffected.

    • You've linked the images wrong. Use square brackets.

    • As per Silicon, this appears to be a syntax error rather than design error.

    • T3CH, I now understood. You had a sandbox wiki for improving Destinypedia, right?

    • Why has the API reset all the ToO pages I adjusted yesterday; I made sure its code was removed when I made my changes?

How do you mean? I have no bots running with regards to ToO?

Sorry about that. I had to remove all of that info because it was added to the wrong pages. The Watchers' and Exile armor sets are separate and obtained in different ways (Watchers is only obtained randomly after completed Trials match drops, and Exile can only be obtained by purchasing it from Vance). I explained this in my edit summary.

Feel free to add the info back, but please make sure to put them on the appropriate pages (you can find them in Vance's merchandise section).

    • Ok, that makes sense; I wasn't aware there was a separate, "Watchers" armor set.

I'll add the info again to the "Exile" pages (note that I'll by using the ingame stats from Vance, but perk-listings from the Armory), and then work on adding the new Faction/Vanguard/Crucible weapons released with HoW I planned to before my vacation.

    • Don't add the stat rolls; they're random. They should be the min/max possible values. They can be obtained via the API, so I think the bot should auto-add them. You can add everything else though.

    • I've made the changes; hope they're ok.

Just thought I'd point out that the max/min for the stats can now be obtained easily on Bungie.net via the "Armory" under the "Destiny" heading in the navbar.
