First, I wanted to congratulate you guys. Since the launch of Destiny, your Community App has surpassed Elder Scrolls to become our most popular app. If you want specific numbers, let me know and I can get them for you, but you guys are getting lots of PVS.
So, I have been receiving a lot of special contact requests about a category on the community app that is not working properly, Rare Weapons. As it turns out, the category just redirects to one page, Rarity.
This is causing a curation issue, because the app can't read that redirect, so all of the subcategories are showing up as 'no content'. Apparently this is a popular topic, because we have been getting a lot of requests pointing out this issue.
I was hoping you or your team could go in and fix the categorization so as to work properly in the Special:CuratedContent. If there is more information that can be added/pages created/or links linked around this topic, all the better.
Finally, I'd just point out that Special:CuratedContent is an awesome tool for you guys. You represent the most popular Community App we have, making it one of the most popular apps we have period. It would be great if you can focus as much attention as you can manage to keeping Special:CuratedContent up to date and fully decked out. If your admin team does not have the community app yet, let me know, and I will give you the links for where to download it for apple and android.
Let me know your thoughts on this! The sooner we can get rare weapons up and running on the app, the better!
I had to make some pretty major changes to Special:CuratedContent to make it better match our current categorization scheme. Though the app automatically updated with the new scheme, the Top Picks and Trending still showed removed sections, which came up as empty. Clearing the app's data cache fixed this problem for me and it now shows only the correct sections, but I don't think many of our readers will know to take that step.
Thanks for taking care of this so quickly! I think the caching issue you mentioned will be very temporary. We haven't gotten any complaints about it.
That being said, I'd point out that through the tickets we have been receiving from users, the exotic categories were very popular. Especially, people were fans of categories like Exotic Weapons and Weapons by Rarity. I noticed that there is now only the Rarity page. It may be a worthwhile endeavor to focus some efforts on expanding that section, categorizing it, and adding it to the curation. However, I leave that decision to you, the admins.
Thanks again for taking care of this! Excellent community, great job!
Destiny has been nominated for Excellence in Technical Achievement, Excellence in Musical Score, and Excellence in Multiplayer for the SXSW Awards, which Wikia is officially hosting this year! In order to drive any fans to the voting page that might be interested in rallying for their favorite game, we were wondering if we could place a badge on your main page that links to it?
Salutations, My name is Usyler. I like cats and I am one. Now I am inquiring as to whether this wiki can have more people patrolling it, me being an admin I'm trying to make an example of. Anyway, I am a proud owner of the destiny PS4 glacier white bundle. And I am able to tell you that I have moderate knowledge of the game. So back to what I was saying before, I basically want admin/bureaucrat status. I also know how to operate a wiki, being an bureaucrat of one already.
Hi. Recently I saw two acts of vandalism and undone them. Since I'm a Helper, I'm not supposed to do so, unless I ask if a local administration needs any help with that. Hopefully, everything is fine with it. If not - I'm sorry for "stealing" your work. If yes, than I'd like to ask for the permission to ban vandals if I see any.
Sorry for the late reply. This wiki is built off of community participation, and we urge all editors to help how they can. Reverting vandalism isn't "stealing our work" at all :) If anything you're doing the community a great service. Thanks for the help!
