Bungie, Inc., is an American video game developer currently located in Bellevue, Washington, United States. Bungie is the developer of Destiny.

Bungie was established in May 1991 as Bungie Software Products Corporation by Alex Seropian (who is no longer with the company) and Jason Jones. Originally based in Chicago, Illinois, the company concentrated primarily on Macintosh games during its early years, creating the successful video game franchises Marathon and Myth, among others.[1]

After Microsoft acquired Bungie in 2000,[2] Bungie created Halo: Combat Evolved and several subsequent Halo games, becoming the developer of one of the most successful franchises on Microsoft's Xbox consoles.[3]

On October 5, 2007, Bungie announced that it had split from Microsoft and became a privately held independent company. Bungie later signed a ten-year publishing deal with Activision to publish Destiny.[4]
