Black Spindle is an exotic sniper rifle released in The Taken King.

Black Spindle can be obtained from an alternate path in the story mission Lost to Light on the Heroic difficulty. The mission must be completed normally until the point where three Tomb Husks are required to unlock the door. At this point, instead of going through the locked Tomb Husk door, the fireteam must make their way towards the Ketch from the strike The Shadow Thief. The fireteam must accomplish this without wiping, or else the door will be locked.

Once inside the first room of the Ketch with Taken, a 10-minute timer will start. The fireteam must defeat all Taken in the ship before the time is up. If successful, the Black Spindle will be awarded. There is also a chance for the Jumpship "Vienna Singer" to drop each time the alternate path is completed.

Upgrades

Black Spindle can be upgraded with the following perks:

Column 0

		Solar Damage
		This weapon causes Solar Damage.

		Infuse
		Consume a more powerful Weapon to boost the Attack value of this Weapon.

Column 1

		Smooth Ballistics
		Increased recoil. Boost to range.

		Field Choke
		More range and impact. Increased recoil.

		CQB Ballistics
		Greatly reduced recoil. Significant penalty to range.

Column 2

		Rapidly landing three precision shots will refill the magazine from your reserves.

Column 3

		Snapshot
		Aiming this weapon is incredibly fast.

		Flared Magwell
		Reload this weapon even faster.

		Missing a shot has a chance to return ammo directly to the magazine.

Trivia

• This rifle is a remake of the Year 1 Legendary sniper rifle Black Hammer.
• The Black Spindle is an incarnation of a weapon used by Crota's sisters, Ir Anûk and Ir Halak. It would weave existences of eternal suffering and woe to its targets, unlike Crota's Hammer, which simply killed its targets.
• When The Taken King was released, the alternate path was only available when Lost to Light was the Daily Heroic Story Mission. In an update, it was made available at any time by simply selecting the mission in the Director.
• When the Age of Triumph update was released, it also became available in the 390 Light version of Crota's End.
